There’s no doubt about it that fires are hugely dangerous. In fact, this is so much the case that we teach children how to act and react in the face of a fire from a very early age – as soon as they are old enough to really understand it, as a matter of fact. For many children, stop, drop, and roll is ingrained for virtually forever, but this is not the only step that must be taken towards fire safety though it is, of course, still an important thing to learn.
First, it’s important to understand the scope of fires – where they occur as well as what kinds of damage they cause. High rise fires, for instance, are particularly common. Fires seen in hotel and motel properties accrue billions of dollars worth of damage on a yearly basis. In that same span of time, hundreds of people will be injured in such fires and some of them will even, tragic as it is, lose their lives as a result of them.
